Biography of a prize: "a life in the cinema"

In 1994 the sculptor Venetian George Bortoli, thinking about the imminent recurrence of the centennial of the birth of the Biennal exhibition in Venice, it decides to realize a sculpture to create a new recognition. Here is the birth of a new Leo Marciano, faithful to the original one in the form and in the proportions, but sectioned in four parts, a study on the stratification of the dreams and the thoughts that will bring Bortoli to realize his works for "sections" and layers. It will be really Gillo Pontecorvo to publicly appreciate him when he will be rewarded. In the years to follow Venetian institutions they patronized and they delivered to the most greater representatives and present characters of clear fame during the Venetian cinema Kermesse, with enthusiasm, the works of the Venetian sculptor.

The works were conceived and realize (every year changing sculpture), wanting to underline the social and cultural value that this Venetian institution has succeeded in communicating to international level in over one hundred years of life.

The Show of the cinema art in Venice has become the cultural showcase from whether to be able to see the world and not the mirror where I'arte sees only herself. That's why I'artista Bortoli, during the Venetian kermesse by now from 12 years it realizes sculptures for the one who makes the Show of the Cinema in unique Venice to the world, is them characters of clear fame, that managers and officials of the Biennal exhibition of strong sensibility and professionalism.

Art is Outskirtses - Many prizes realized for the Show of the Cinema - Her original creations of George Bortoli

VENICE - (L.M.) A prize, been born in the '94 for wish of the sculptor Giorgio Bortoli, that every year, on the occasion of the Show of the cinema, characters of clear fame he is assigned to, so that to underline the tall institutional, cultural and social role of the Biennal exhibition in Venice. The cinema kermesse becomes so not only mirror of itself same but an unique observatory from which to study the world.
It is really to underline this oneness, Bortoli has wanted to create a new Leo Marciano, faithful to the original one but indeed very special because sectioned in four parts and realized, after a study to hoc, to layers. A search not only from the point of view technical, but animate also from a philosophical content on the stratification of the thoughts and the dreams.

Every year the initiative always assumes greater prestige: now the novelty is that the three assigned prizes this year during the 59a Show of the Cinema, they have the egidia and they are registered by the Gazzettino. The Municipality of the island and the delegation Ancestress (Association Venetian hotel keeper) of the Beach, with the support of the Firm "Zeta3" of Zecchinato has wanted to reward the critical appointment of Gianni Ippoliti as inventor of "Given back to us the money", with a work of George Bortoli, drawn by an old cinema spool that represents the lion that he/she eats the Oscar. Almost an answer to the recent polemic of Vittorio Sgarbi that he has diminished the importance of the gold Leo. To the center, in perfect tuning with the prize, it finds space the first page gilded of the Gazzettino.
The manager of the festival De Hadeln has crowned, with a splendid coroncina in gilded bronze, on Venetian profiles assembled with the first page in silver of the Gazzettino, the most beautiful queen of the festival Lolita Sirola. You/he/she will finally be delivered Franco Bernabe to the president of the Biennal exhibition, during an evening that wants to organize the Municipality, a lion to layers climbed on on a find of the Bell tower of san Mark. Also this prize is registered by our newspaper.

Malibran Theatre - Bronzetto given to Woody Allen - December 2004

I really like this bronze stylized that I was dedicated by the Venetians, I like this material, I find original and interesting stand made with a brick relic of the old bell tower of San Marco.
I saw little of the true Venetian sculptor Giorgio Bortoli, but that little is enough for me, I find the large sculpture to greet me every time I arrive at the airport of Venice, makes me feel at casa.Trovo extremely interesting symbiosis between the steel and the glass, the verticality of Venice with its buildings and bell towers and my city New York, with its building, the magic of "shadows and Fog" in the water.

I take in this great work, lots and lots of symbolism, the two beautiful statues of Liberty lit from within. It would be ideal and I hope that a second copy can find a place, at the airport in New York or maybe the place I love most about the Central Park.

The eighteenth edition of the "A Life in Film" this year goes to Pino Donaggio.
"I'm very happy," he says, 70 years old, one of the world maggrori composers of music for thriller, the Venetian with one foot in Hollywood.
"I'm working on the soundtrack of Rossella 2", the second series of Italian fiction, which comes after the success of another successful television series Don Matteo, with music always Donaggio, who has since entered into a partnership with Rai Fiction.
"Then, two American productions."
Careful man of humility, human author is especially complex and multifaceted that runs in dual career, first author of pop in the sixties, and then the second life ompositore, much of the last forty years of Italian and international music.
Classical studies behind it, perfects the violin, which deepens the Consenrvatorio of Venice and Milan, and there holds a long association with the maestro Claudio Abbato. Then comes the encounter with the cinema. It is the 1973.

If the score is like a symphony

VENICE - This is the second prize at the receiving cariera
this year, but to hang on a nail pen and sheet there think at all, in fact it has never worked so hard as in recent times.
The musician and composer Pino Donaggio, 71 years after
obtained in Belgium the prestigious "Lifetime Achievement Award" or the Career Achievement Award, as part of the "World Soundtrack Awards ", yesterday received in the spaces of cinema Rossini Award "A life in cinema", created by the sculptor Giorgio Bortoli.
A native of Burano, Donaggio still resides in Venice - in
Cannaregio - and creates music for film and TV series in
her study, overlooking the Grand Canal, just steps from the
Basilica della Salute. "The canals, the lagoon inspire me - says the famous composer - I could never leave Venice, here I

Now is a bit 'ruined by tourists but it is always our beautiful

In thirty years he composed 210 film scores and fiction, in what he considers his third career, after that of the musician and songwriter. "I started studying at the Conservatory before Venice and Milan.
I was solo violin and played with the Solisti Veneti and Claudio Abbado and the Solisti di Milano.
So I went to write songs and try them out with my father. Any
proposed a Mina and I ended up in the Sanremo Festival at the age of 19 years and a half with "How symphony.
"I remember the enthusiasm of success, the early records, my ten Sanremo festival. "" After Twenty years from psycho-thriller "Double personality" ("The Raising Cain") - explains Donaggio - I taken with pleasure my collaboration with director Brian De Palma for his new movie "Passion", presented at

music for thriller, it allows me to experiment with modern music, What I can not do with fiction as "Don Matteo"
"Scarlett", "One step from heaven", "I married a cop" or "Play it again, Professor." In these days I'm preparing the scores for three films ("Don Matteo 9", "Rossella 2" "Play it again prof 5"), but the films are my passion: after "Cesare Mori - The prefect of iron," I'm planning a new film directed by Don Mancini and a Dutch film and I am finishing songs for the first album from Gabriella Pession."
